Marjanne van Helvert is a textile designer, design theorist, writer, and educator. She‘s the initiator and editor of The Responsible Object, A History of Design Ideology for the Future (2016), and author of the Dirty Design Manifesto (2013), and the Manifesto for the Rights of Things2018). Pro-
jects include Curtain Landscapes (2013-present), Dirty Clothes (2015-present), and the Library for Material Rights (2018, in collaboration with Pauline Agustoni). Mainfields of interest are utopia and dystopia, design ideology, sustainable design philosophies, and the relationship between ethics and aesthetics in design. She currently teaches at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, AKV|
St. Joost Breda, and is coordinator of the minor Reframing Textiles at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
